English Translation of the lyrics (by Caroline Hatem)

"Mother, O Mother, I had a dream
A strange, scary dream
I saw myself on a boat
Sailing, O Mother, on a large sea
Like a harvested field, and calm waves
A sea without a shore
Yes, and I was rowing.
My passenger was my Cousin
Holding the rudder, gripping a shawl

His shawl was all red, O mother,
The color of tomatoes.
Came a white, white dove
Like a white cotton ball over his head, it landed.
The shore was hardly seen when the wind came,
You'd say a fierce ogre blowing.
The boat overturned and I found myself
In the sea, shouting :

"Oh my Cousin, Cousin, my Cousin!"
He was walking on water, and laughing.
He went far, O mother, far away
The dove above his head still standing."
