In April 2024, my collaborator hardware and software engineer Mr. Stock and I were awarded a residency at the V2_ lab for the unstable media in Rotterdam, where we built B~low from recycled plastic, aluminium found in the V2 workshops and 3D-printed parts. B~low is based on a bass string, the first B or B0. We created our own custom-made electronic bow, which causes the string to vibrate continuously. The vibration is then picked up by electric bass pickups. We motorised its tuning peg so that we could modulate its fundamental frequency in a microtonal way. In October 2024 at the Trafo Art Centre in Poland, I began programming B~low with Mr. Stock, and composed and performed a piece for the solo instrument.
In June and September 2025, a new piece, “Autonomics-ter” for the trio of instruments, was performed successively at the CRD in Pantin and as part of the Ars Electronica international festival in Linz.
